The 33-year-old defenseman has agreed to terms with JYP Jyväskylä. He will stay with the team until the end of the 2026-27 season.

Genève-Servette HC already announced at their season-end party that Sami Vatanen would not remain on their roster. The Finn will now return to his roots and play for JYP once again. He used to play junior hockey for the Liiga team and also played his first professional games with the team before he headed to North America in 2012.
Vatanen has been with Genève-Servette HC for four seasons. He recorded three goals and 16 assists this season in 42 regular-season games.
