Former Tiger Aleksi Saarela signs with TPS Turku

Forced to return to his motherland to fulfill his military service and thus forced to leave Switzerland and the SCL Tigers, Aleksi Saarela has now reached a deal with TPS Turku, a club in Finland's top division, the Liiga. With them, he has agreed to a one-year contract.

"The duties of defending the homeland are performed with pride. And although on the one hand it was sad to leave Switzerland, on the other hand, I'm excited to come back to the Liiga. [...] It was a perfect fit - my ideology of how hockey should be played and what TPS wants. I was immediately really excited about it," Saarela is quoted on the club's website.
