Champions Hockey League

The ZSC Lions triumphed in the CHL final, defeating Sweden’s Färjestad BK 2-1, with Sven Andrighetto scoring both goals to secure the victory.

The two finalists had been the top seeds after the preliminary round, setting up a high-level showdown at the Swiss Life Arena in Zurich. Sven Andrighetto found the net in both the first and second periods to give ZSC a lead. Färjestad responded with a goal in the third, but the Lions held on, also thanks to Czech goaltender Šimon Hrubec, who made 31 saves to secure the win.

This is the second straight Swiss victory in the CHL, following Genève-Servette HC’s win last year. Both clubs won the Swiss championship before claiming European glory the following season. This also marks the third consecutive year that a Swedish club has lost in the final.
