The goaltender of the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers will not play in the last two games this season.
Melvin Nyffeler left Thursday's game a few minutes after a collision with Axel Simic and tried to play again but eventually had to give up. However, it turns out that the goaltender has been playing injured for a while.
Nyffeler suffered an inguinal hernia at the end of 2023 and will have to undergo surgery. He is thus done for the season.
