The 29-year-old forward suffered a severe knee injury in the game against HC Sierre and will have to undergo surgery.
At the earliest, Oliver Achermann will be able to return to HC La Chaux-de-Fonds' lineup at the beginning of the next season. The Swiss League team has thus to make do without him for the remainder of the season.
They will, however, be able to count on Sandis Smons again tonight. According to "Arcinfo", the defenseman was out due to an ankle injury he suffered at the end of August in an exhibition game. He will thus play his first game of the season tonight against EHC Olten.
