Stalder, however, will still play one more season for her University team. The 22-year-old left Switzerland in summer of 2013 to pursue her hockey career and education in North America. Last season, she played 34 games for the UMD Bulldogs, scoring 17 goals and 24 assists for a total of 41 points.
The NWHL, which held its inaugural season last year, is the first professional women’s hockey league in North America to pay its players. The league currently consists of the four founding teams. (bsc)
