As it can be read in the Vancouver Sun, reported by journalist Elliott Pap, Jim Benning said that restricted free agent Yannick Weber would still figure in the team's plans and therefore will be re-signed to a new contract.

Last July, the 26-year-old defenseman and the Vancouver Canucks had agreed on a new one-year deal worth $850,000. In the past 2014-15 season (his second straight year in Vancouver), Weber has appeared in 71 games for the Canucks, in which he was able to score a total of eleven goals and ten assists for 21 points.
