The 19-year-old has earned his spot on San Jose’s opening night roster after impressing head coach Todd McLellan with a strong training camp. In the last three pre-season games the youngster got to show his skills playing alongside Brent Burns and averaging 21:28 time on ice.
The 18th overall pick of last year's NHL Entry Draft is considered part of the Sharks’ younger generation, expected to not only enhance competition for the veterans but eventually carry the team to more (postseason) success in the future.
In the past two years, the native of Winterthur mainly played for the Everett Silvertips in the Western Hockey League (WHL), where he scored twelve goals and 61 points in 134 games. He also had the chance to play with San Jose's AHL affiliate, the Worcester Sharks, last season (two assists in nine games).
