The 36-year-old defenseman already said before the start of the preseason that he would not mind to take on the kind of responsibility that comes with wearing a letter again. Now, he will get the chance to lead the Flyers this season alongside fellow alternate captain Wayne Simmonds and captain Claude Giroux.
Mark Streit was captain of the ZSC Lions from 2003 until 2005, was named the first Swiss captain of an NHL team by the New York Islanders in 2011 and was the captain of the Swiss national team for many years. Now, he can add another letter to his collection.
