It has been a hell of a season for Guelph storm: Midwest Division Champions, OHL Regular Season Champions, Western Conference Champions, and OHL Champions. Only the Memorial Cup trophy is missing for a perfect season.
Guelph started very well into the game. It took them exactly one minute to get on the board. The Storm controlled the game and took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission. But then, the momentum switched sides and the Oil Kings scored three unanswered goals, ending the second period with a two-goal lead.
Early in the third period, Guelph managed to bounce back with Mitchell's goal (44'), but only 97 seconds later the Oil Kings scored again and defended their two-goal lead until the 59th minute, when Henrik Samuelsson put home the all-decisive empty-netter.
Phil Baltisberger and Pius Suter both finished the game with an even rating. Especially Suter played well and had a great impact on the game. He generated some good scoring chances and assisted Guelph's second goal.
