As "Arcinfo" reports, 33 of 36 teams approved the proposal and they have now formed a task force in order to work out the exact details for the new deal. ""We now need to define the formula of this new championship, the number of teams and athletes and the financial criteria to integrate this category, " says Grégoire Matthey, president of HC Université Neuchâtel, who is part of the work group. Matthey and his team are very interested in the new league, as it would be more "interesting and attractive than the present league."
As mentioned, the details have yet to be worked out, but the budget of a team would probably have to be between 500,000 and 1 million Swiss francs to gain access to the new league. NLB teams could also form partnerships with those clubs. Furthermore, the Super First League, would probably see two geographically defined conferences. The idea is to have about 12 to 16 teams in this new category.
However, the First League would be maintained, but the idea is to merge the Third and Fourth League to a new category with lower requirements and costs. The final vote about the new league will be held in June. After that the clubs have time to submit their application until the 31st of December 2015 to be considered for the new format. (mso)
