Reto Suri might decide against the NHL and stay with EVZ next season

Earlier, EV Zug had offered the forward an NHL out-clause which would enable him to sign with an NHL team – likely the Tampa Bay Lightning – for the upcoming season. But this clause does not come without conditions. Firstly, Suri would have to honor the last year of his contract with EV Zug whenever he returns to Switzerland from now until 2017. Furthermore, should the forward come back during the course of a season, he has to finish that year with the EVZ at half of his salary and additionally fulfill the last full year of his contract afterwards.

Now it seems that Reto Suri will in fact not take a chance in North America next year but instead fulfill his valid contract with EV Zug. As Reto Suri tells the Neue "Luzerner Zeitung", playing in the Olympics has made him realize that he still needs to improve his game, especially physically, to compete in the best league in the world and that maybe staying for at least another year in Switzerland would benefit his development.

Still, nothing is set in stone yet, as Suri has not made a final decision yet. But EV Zug asked their forward to decide on his future until the end of the month in order to allow EVZ to start an eventual search for a replacement in time.
