After Cody Almond's decision to report to the Iowa Wild in the AHL, Matt Lombardi decided the other way round. According to a tweet from journalist Renaud Lavoie, he won't report to the Hartford Wolf Pack and is going to be released from his contract with the New York Rangers and, therefore, placed on unconditional waivers.
As Lavoie writes, the 32-year-old Canadian will probably return to Switzerland, which would in all probability mean that he will suit up for Genève-Servette HC again with which he is under contract until the end of the 2015-16 season - plus option for an additional year
Matthew Lombardi will be put on unconditional waivers by the Rangers. He refused to go in the AHL. He'll probably go back in Switzerland.
