Joel Kwiatkowski, who is still under contract and practicing with HC Fribourg-Gottéron but was informed he will not be part of the Dragons' roster in the future, talked to La Liberté about his situation.

"That's part of the business, but I am still bound by contract to Gottéron and I have to fulfil my commitment," the defenseman explains his return, saying that he trains to be ready to play, even though he knows that he will have no chance of playing again with Fribourg.

When asked about the possibility of retiring, the 38-year-old says he is still passionate about the sport and has not given up hope yet: "The different championships haven't started yet. It's too early and injuries can always occur and opportunities present themselves." However, as of now the defender has not yet received a serious offer.

HCFG has offered the Canadian a settlement, which he refused. Kwiatkowski explains that it was not what was set out in his contract and stresses that he still wants to return to the ice. "I love the game and don't want to stop. I am sure I can still play." (lcu)
