National Team

Severin Blindenbacher has decided to retire from the Swiss national team. As the 33-year-old announces via the ZSC Lions' website, he would like to focus solely on his games with the ZSC Lions.

Furthermore, Blindenbacher also states that his increasing age and the consequential health concerns were factors which led to his decision. The defenseman has been a part of the Swiss men's national team since the 2002-03 season.

He is also one of the so called "silver-heroes" from 2013, when the Swiss national team made it to the final of the IIHF World Championship. In 140 international games, Blindenbacher scored eleven goals and 37 assists. (abu)
