NATIONAL TEAM - Every participant of the IIHF World Championship is allowed to have 25 licensed players on their roster. Coach Sean Simpson, however, won't license them all right away and hopes for further NHL-reinforcements.

Head coach Sean Simpson wants to be patient and keep some cards up his sleeve: "My team is set, but if Niederreiter, Diaz, or Sbisa are available and I still have roster-spots open, we will look into that," he said in an interview with "Blick".

Forward Nino Niederreiter (photo) currently seems to be the most likely addition to the national team. With his team, the Minnesota Wild, he is already trailing 0-2 in the quarterfinal-series against the defending Stanley Cup champions Chicago Blackhawks.

Also defensemen Raphael Diaz of the New York Rangers (1-2 in the series against the Pittsburgh Penguins) and Luca Sbisa of the Anaheim Ducks (0-2 against the Los Angeles Kings) are down early in their series.
