According to a report of the Südostschweiz, the defensive pairs for Wednesday's game against Latvia seem to be clear, including two NHL-duos: Whereas Philadelphia's Mark Streit will form a defensive pair with Vancouver's Raphael Diaz, the second Vancouverite Yannick Weber is going to play side by side with Nashville's Roman Josi. Mathias Seger/Julien Vauclair and Severin Blindenbacher/Patrick von Gunten, respectively, will form the other two defensive pairs.
Concerning the offensive department, Sean Simpson tends to the following lines, still according to the Südostschweiz: Luca Cunti will probably again form a line with Denis Hollenstein and Simon Bodenmann. Furthermore, the former top scorer of the National League A, Damien Brunner, could team up with the current, Roman Wick, centered by Kevin Romy.
Simon Moser, who recently made his NHL-debut for the Nashville Predators, is probably going to play with Minnesota's Nino Niederreiter and SC Bern's captain Martin Plüss. As the fourth line, Andres Ambühl, Reto Suri and Matthias Bieber will hit the ice. If Simpson decides to play with 13 forwards, Ryan Gardner will most likely take Patrick von Gunten's spot.
Switzerland's possible line up against Latvia on Wednesday:
1 | M. Streit, R. Diaz / D. Hollenstein, L. Cunti, S. Bodenmann
2 | R. Josi, Y. Weber / R. Wick, K. Romy, D. Brunner
3 | M. Seger (C), J. Vauclair / S. Moser, M. Plüss, N. Niederreiter
4 | S. Blindenbacher, P. von Gunten / M. Bieber, A. Ambühl, R. Suri
13th forward: Ryan Gardner
