LIIGA - Swiss-Finnish goalie Dennis Saikkonen has extended his stay in Finland. The young keeper signed a new one-year contract (plus an option for another season) with JYP Jyväskylä in the Finnish Liiga, his agent Gaetan Voisard announces.
The 21-year-old played some of the past season with Jyväskylä’s farm team JYP-Akatemia in the second Finnish league, posting a .943 save percentage in ten games. Saikkonen was then called up by Jyväskylä for the playoffs and made his Liiga-debut this March.
The Swiss junior international grew up in the organization of SC Bern before playing for Brampton in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) as well as in the NLB with HC Sierre, the GCK Lions and HC Thurgau.
