Dan Spang, who had reinforced HC Lugano during the 2015 edition of the Spengler Cup, has finally found a new club. The Hamburg Freezers (DEL) have signed him for the rest of the season.
The 32-year-old defenseman had been allowed to practice with the team in Lugano since the end of the Spengler Cup in order for him to keep in shape until a new opportunity would present itself. Spang had already played for two other teams this season: Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in the KHL (eleven games, three assists) and HC Kometa Brno in the Czech league, where he appeared in eight games (two assists).
