As Darren Dreger (TSN) reports, the 30-year-old NHL forward Kris Versteeg, who last played for the Los Angeles Kings, is expected to sign a contract with SC Bern this weekend. He could thus replace Cory Conacher.

Dreger already reported a few weeks ago that Versteeg could potentially sign with a Swiss team. About two weeks ago, La Regione wrote that EHC Biel could, in fact, be the team he had chosen. However, now it seems as if another city in the same canton could be his next home.

Last season, Versteeg had played 63 games for the Carolina Hurricanes before he was traded to the Los Angeles Kings. For them, he played another 19 games, scoring nine goals and two assists. Overall, Versteeg has appeared in 639 NHL games. (bsc)
