Watson announced Helbling's new contract on Thursday. He wil therefore return to the team he was part of during the 2004-05 season. Earlier this season, the Swiss international was told that he was no longer needed in Bern and rumors emerged that HC Ambrì-Piotta was interested in his services.
Helbling joined the Bears last summer after a player swap with Ryan Gardner. This season thus far, Helbling has appeared in 28 games for SC Bern, scoring three goals and 15 assists. (bsc)
