He has played 652 NLA games for Ambrì, Lugano, Bern, and Biel. Now, the 36-year-old Andreas Hänni hangs up his skates. It is a decision in favor of his health. Hänni suffered his fourth concussion while playing with EHC Biel.

It was on November 26, 2013 when Hänni fell into the boards and sustained another concussion in his career. It should be the last one. As the Berner Zeitung reports, Hänni took one year off from professional hockey and tried to return to the NLA this year. But it was not possible.

Because the symptoms returned everytime when the 36-year-old with increasing efforts, he decided to end his career. "I'm looking forward to new challenges," the 36-year-old says to the Berner Zeitung. This fall, he will take up his studies in politics and communication at the University of Zurich. (tme)
