NLA - Rumors circulating this morning about a possible move of SC Bern's Philippe Furrer to HC Lugano as of next season, have now been confirmed by the player himself in a statement to the fans.

The 29-year-old writes on his website, that he has decided to leave his former junior team and will join HC Lugano as of next season "to take on a new challenge in a new environment."

"Now I have a whole season to show my gratitude through my performance and commitment on the ice", the defenseman, who only played for SC Bern so far in his professional career, closes his statement.

Philippe Furrer is a three-time Swiss Champion with SC Bern and has played a total of 464 games for the Bears (38 goals, 100 assists). Over the course of his career, he also suited up for the Swiss national team 114 times (three goals, nine assists).
