WOMEN'S LEAGUE

The ZSC Lions, last season’s champion, returned to the head of the standings after eight games. The Lions beat Lugano and could benefit from the Neuchâtel Hockey Academy’s first loss of the season.

A convincing 4-0 victory in their away game against BOMO Thun and a 5-2 win against Lugano: This weekend, the Lions received the maximum of points. With their victory against the Bianconere, the team from Zurich took revenge on Lugano for their only loss this season. Two minutes in the second period with three goals from Christina Meier, Domonique Rüegg, and Noemi Ryhner decided this game early on. Neuchâtel, on the other hand, had to accept their first loss against Lugano, a team they managed to beat on the road. The two games against the ZSC Lions this coming weekend and on November 12th will decide who wins this ten-game qualifaction stage.

In the battle for the playoff qualification, Bomo Thun as well as SC Weinfelden had one victory each and thus put more distance between them and SC Reinach, who has yet to win the first point. BOMO Thun won their game against SC Weinfelden, even though it was a close affair. After a 3-0 lead after twelve minutes, BOMO almost managed to be troubled again. Weinfelden beat SC Reinach in convincing fashion and remains in the race for the final playoff spot despite their loss to BOMO. For Weinfelden, national team player Stefanie Wetli (EHC Winterthur, 2000) scored her first goal in the SWHL A in her first game in this league.
