Spengler Cup

SRG SSR and HC Davos have extended their contract for the Spengler Cup for five more years until 2021. In addition, a new contract should be realised with the Canadien Hockey Association. This announces the club in a press release.

With the contract extension, SRF, RTS, RSI and RTR have the rights to broadcast all games of the cup. Marc Gianola, president of the organising committee, says: "For generations of sport fans, it's a tradition to watch the Spengler Cup live on TV. I'm glad, that this will continue." The partnership between SRG and HC Davos has already lasted for 60 years.

With Mountfield HK from the Czech Extraliga, a new team will scratch the ice between Christmas and New Years in Davos. The second Swiss team this year is HC Lugano. Furthermore KHL teams Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg and Dinamo Minsk will compete in the tournament as well as Team Canada. The Canadien Hockey Association will likely also prolong their contract with the Spengler Cup for four years, as HC Davos writes in the press release. However, this is not yet certain.
