Sondell's contract with HC Lugano would have been valid until the end of the current season. The 32-year-old only appeared in eight games with the Bianconeri (5 assists) and has been a healthy scratch for most of the season so far. He is expected to join his new team in Salzburg on Wednesday and make his debut for Red Bull on Friday against the Villacher SV.
The Swedish international joined HC Lugano at the beginning of the current season. Before that he had played for EV Zug for two seasons in which he put up 75 points in 101 games.
