What was reported in the Neue Zürcher Zeitung has now been confirmed by team manager Reto Kläy in the Neue Luzerner Zeitung: Sandro Zangger will have to leave EV Zug at the end of this season.

"It is not a decision against Sandro," says the 38-year-old. "He has developed well with us. But it is a decision for our development concept. As I said: the boys are pushing, we want to give them a chance to get a place in the first team."

The 22-year-old will certainly garner interest on the market. According to Omar Gargantini (RSI), HC Ambrì-Piotta has already approached him. The forward, though, reportedly declined the offer.

Zangger is currently EV Zug's second best Swiss scorer with 15 points (four goals) in 27 games. He joined Zug in the middle of the 2014-15 season and has scored 15 goals and 26 assists in 113 games for them thus far.
