Rumor

mt_ignoreRUMOR - After names such as Justin Azevedo and Marc Arcobello have been mentioned in connection with SC Bern recently, the Bears seem to have found a third import for the upcoming season: Canadian forward Andrew Ebbett.

According to the Berner Zeitung, forward Andrew Ebbett is supposed to fill the third of four import-spots on SC Bern's roster next season. The first two are already taken by the forwards Chuck Kobasew and Cory Conacher, the same source reports. Neither Ebbett's nor Conacher's arrival, however, have been confirmed by the club yet.

Although the 32-year-old Ebbett has played 243 games (27 goals, 47 assists) in the NHL over the course of his career, he mainly played in the American Hockey League. Last season, he suited up for Pittsburgh's AHL affiliate Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins in 52 games and scored 18 goals and 33 assists for 51 points. (tme)

UPDATE Today's report from the Berner Zeitung seems to have prompted Andrew Ebbett's player agent Alec Shall to clarifiy the situation: “Andrew has had a lot of interest from European clubs,” he told NBC Sports today, via email. “At this time we are focusing on returning to the Pittsburgh organization.” - (rlu) 20 May 2015, 8:16 PM
