CHL

Each year, every team of the Canadian Hockey League has the option to choose up to two players from outside North America to add to their roster. In this year's CHL Import Draft, four Swiss prospects have been drafted.

The import draft is seen as a way to raise the level of competition in the Canadian Hockey League as well as to broaden its fan base while retaining a high North American content. The CHL can also be a possible springboard into the NHL.

In the 2016 CHL Import Draft, the following Swiss prospects have been selected:

-Nico Hischier (F, SC Bern) as 6th overall by the Halifax Mooseheads
-Alex Simic (F, Lausanne HC) as 18th overall by the Armada de Blainville-Boisbriand
-Philipp Kurashev (D, GCK Lions) as 21st overall by the Quebec Remparts.
-Simon Le Coultre (D, Lausanne HC) as 39th overall by the Moncton Wildcats. (bsc)
