National Hockey League

mt_ignoreAfter 24 hours on waivers, Raphael Diaz has cleared as no other NHL-team claimed him. As journalist Sean Hartnett reports, the New York Rangers have assigned him to the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack.

If the defenseman will report to the Wolf Pack or if he is going to look for another solution with the Rangers, however, is not yet clear. As his agent Daniel Giger said earlier, Diaz would prefer to return to Europe - either the Swiss NLA or the KHL - than playing AHL-hockey. (tme)

UPDATE As EV Zug's team manager Reto Kläy tells the Sonntags Zeitung, they would try to find the financial means to add Diaz to their roster in case he decides to return to Europe. Diaz has a year left on his contract with the Bulls, so they would not have to negotiate a new deal. - 04 October 2015, 7:21 PM
